We are also not electricians. 

My introduction to the field of appliance maintenance started when I was a youngster. At the age of eight, I was known as "Doug the Plug," and I spent my days in my parents' workshop checking continuity in fuses for refurbished appliances. This early experience sparked a passion that has remained with me throughout my life. 

 

After leaving high school at 16, I started an apprenticeship at my parents’ workshop, which helped me cultivate a range of valuable skills. I began with vacuum cleaners, earning the nickname “Dyson doctor” for my skills in repairing and reconditioning Dysons. From there, I progressed to tumble dryer repairs, learning to dismantle, diagnose, and reassemble these appliances with ease. 

 

Along with cookers, dryers, and washing machines, I learnt how to use more sophisticated appliances. After two years at the workshop, I obtained my driver's license and began working as a field service engineer, visiting clients' houses to do repairs. This hands-on experience not only improved my technical abilities, but it also helped me to interact with consumers and provide personalised and efficient service.. 

I relocated from Chelmsford to Colchester in 2016 and started Knowhow (Curry's), where I learnt a great deal—especially about refrigeration repairs. In April of 2020, after working for 4.5 years, I decided it was time to go out on my own and started East Coast Appliances. 

 

Since then, East Coast Appliances have risen tremendously. I've developed great working ties with local rental agencies and landlords, who have become regular customers. Furthermore drawing a large clientele among the general public is our reputation for consistent and reasonably priced service. 

Our first goal at East Coast Appliances is to provide first-rate service. Every one of our engineers is DBS vetted, and upon request, we have certificate numbers accessible. We also have a vulnerable consumer policy in place to make sure that all of our clients feel protected and supported.
